Subject: seat adjustment on the Marlin HTP

I have the Prijon Marlin HTP. Great kayak ........I like the speed, turning abilities, and I like the fit. I would like to know where the placement of the seat should be for a 5"11", 200lb kayaker........I am looking for the fastest position. Thanks, John

Re: seat adjustment on the Marlin HTP

Hi John,

Fastest speed should be flattest trim (ie flattest hull). I would recomend loosening the Seat Bolts then going out paddling. Start by moving the seat back quite a ways then doing some forward strokes. If you feel you can "slip" your bow left to right somewhat like a small windshield wiper you are too far back.

Next Move the Seat Forward. Do some forward strokes and stop paddling. If during the glide your tail wants to start coming around you you are then too far forward. Ideally you will paddle with a straight line, no windshield wiper and good straight flat glide when you are finished wiith your strokes.

Possibly this won't work as I expect in the Marlin but it is how I dial in my Kodiak.

Would you mind if I posted this on the website as a FAQ?

thanks for asking,

Thanks for the information Landis.  I don't mind if you post this information as I am sure that there are more kayakers that are also interested in learning about the seat placement.  Thank you for your help.  .....I think it is a great and indestructible boat. Sincerely,  John
